SUMMARY



This role combines supervisory responsibility for Accounts Receivable with advanced Senior Accountant duties. The position requires independent judgment to perform specialized accounting tasks, analyze financial information, and prepare accurate and timely reports, statements, and recommendations--often involving complex and confidential data. The role also completes special accounting projects with minimal supervision and supports the Director of Finance with projects and analysis as needed.



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:





Accounts Receivable (AR) Supervisor







Overview:

Responsible for overseeing the company's AR function, ensuring accurate billing, collections, cash applications, and reporting. This role supervises two staff members and collaborates across departments to maintain healthy cash flow and support company objectives.

Supervise and support AR staff, providing training, guidance, and performance feedback. Oversee invoicing, cash application, collections, credit memos, and adjustments to ensure accuracy and timeliness. Monitor AR aging reports; establish and enforce collection policies to minimize delinquent accounts. Partner with Sales, Customer Service, and Operations to resolve billing discrepancies and customer disputes. Maintain and enhance AR policies, procedures, and internal controls. Prepare and analyze AR reports and KPIs, highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities. Support month- and year-end close processes by reconciling AR subledger to the general ledger and ensuring accurate revenue recognition. Collaborate with the Director of Finance on credit approvals, bad debt reserves, and cash flow forecasting. Drive process improvements, automation, and efficiency within AR. Ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP, and regulatory requirements.



Senior Accountant

Lead month-end and year-end closing, including reconciliations, journal entries, and accruals, to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. Prepare and analyze journal entries, financial statements, reconciliations, fixed assets, inventory reports, cash flow statements, and other reports. Perform variance analysis between budgeted and actual results, investigating discrepancies and recommending corrective actions. Provide financial analysis and counsel to management and operations, investigating discrepancies as needed. Recommend and implement automation and process improvements. Maintain and process electronic payments of sales & use taxes, system updates, filings, government surveys, and oversee sales tax audits. Contribute to budget and forecast development through financial analysis and recommendations. Perform GL and bank reconciliations, resolving discrepancies. Calculate and reconcile commission payments for sales reps and distributors. Maintain the general ledger system, chart of accounts, and ensure proper transaction coding. Evaluate and strengthen internal controls to safeguard assets and mitigate risks. Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and ensuring compliance. Provide coaching and guidance to accounting and finance staff. Document and update procedures for accounting tasks.






QUALIFICATIONS:



Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business, or related field. 5+ years of general accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment. 2+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience (preferred). Backup responsibility for Accounts Payable Supervisor. Experience with large-scale ERP systems (e.g., SAP). Sales & Use Tax experience required, cost accounting experience a plus. Strong knowledge of accounting best practices, GAAP, and applicable laws/regulations. Advanced skills in finance, accounting, budgeting, and banking. Strong mathematical, organizational, and analytical abilities. High attention to detail and accuracy. Effective communicator, able to work with all organizational levels, customers, and vendors. Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a team environment. Skilled in handling confidential information with professionalism. Proficient with MS Office Suite.



WORK ENVIRONMENT


Office environment with some time spent in a manufacturing plant. Up to 10% of business travel required.



WORK SCHEDULE


Full-time, Monday through Friday. Standard work hours, with occasional evenings or weekends during peak periods.

COMPENSATION


$80,000 - $86,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
