Job Description

Performs and directs general accounting and financial reporting activities. Represents the department in financial matters as necessary. Reviews accounting procedures and makes recommendations to increase effectiveness and accuracy. May oversee and or direct financial functions such as payroll, general ledger, accounts receivable or payable contracts or other related financial functions; and other duties as assigned.



EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Finance/Accounting Three years professional experience in accounting and auditing as a supervisor Two years of experience in a health care organization

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Supervises and coordinates the finance staff to ensure the timely delivery of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements for MMCIP and Terrapin.

Oversees and implements the preparation and accuracy of MMCIP/Terrapin's monthly financial statements and balance sheet account reconciliations prepared by staff members.

Develops, implements, and maintains accounting policies and procedures regarding journal entry processing, balance sheet reconciliations, and fixed assets.

Ensures monthly premium distribution and allocations are processed sufficiently.

Ensures all tax filing deadlines are met, including Form 1099, Personal Property Returns, and Unclaimed Property Filings.

Interacts with UMMS and FPI outside accounting firm regarding annual audits.

The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of University of Maryland's Faculty Physician's Inc. salary range for this position. Some candidates will not be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographical location, skills, work experience, market conditions, internal equity, responsibility factor and span of control, education/ training and other qualifications.
