POSITION SUMMARY




The Accounting Supervisor plays a key role in supporting the Controller, Managing Director, and CFO in overseeing all aspects of Finance & Accounting operations. This position ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial data, provides leadership to team members, and contributes to the overall efficiency of financial processes. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting skills, a collaborative spirit, and a commitment to advancing our mission.


The Accounting Supervisor is an integral member of the Finance & Accounting team and is responsible for supervising day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring compliance with organizational policies, supporting financial reporting and audit processes, and collaborating across departments to strengthen the organization's financial health. This role provides opportunities to gain broad exposure to nonprofit finance, grant management, and strategic operational planning in a mission-driven environment.




RESPONSIBILITIES



SUPERVISE ACCOUNTING OPERATIONS



Supervise and mentor assigned accounting staff, providing training, guidance, and performance feedback. Prepare and/or oversee general ledger entries, account reconciliations, accounts payable, and accounts receivable invoices and collections. Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. Review financial transactions for accuracy, compliance, and organizational policies.

SUPPORT FINANCIAL REPORTING AND COMPLIANCE



Assist in preparing for and coordinating annual audits and external financial reviews. Support Medicaid cost reporting and related annual audits. Collaborate on budgets, forecasts, and financial analyses for leadership and board reporting. Assist with grant budgeting, reporting, and reimbursements, ensuring compliance with requirements. Identify opportunities to enhance financial processes, efficiency, and accuracy. Prepare, review, and present monthly financial statements to team leadership.

COLLABORATE ACROSS TEAMS



Provide financial insights to support organizational initiatives and strategic planning. Participate in systems training for principals and other office departments, and collaborate on matters related to financial accounting Participate in cross-functional projects that impact organizational operations and mission delivery.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES



Exhibit professionalism and integrity in all financial matters. Support organizational goals with respect to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Perform other duties assigned to support Finance & Accounting operations including cross-training with other team members to assist as needed. Special projects may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS



Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field required. 3-5 years of accounting experience with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role. Strong knowledge of GAAP, nonprofit accounting, internal controls and fund accounting principles. Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasts, and data analysis. Experience with federal, state, and local grants is preferred. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage Intacct) and Microsoft Excel. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
