Tacoma Roofing and Waterproofing, a well-established commercial and residential roofing and waterproofing company located in Lakewood, WA, has an immediate opportunity for an experienced Accountant Specialist, who is a team player and has a good understanding of both regular and certified payroll as well as AP accounting methods. We are seeking a detail-oriented professional with integrity, a strong work ethic, and commitment to excellence and accuracy.

The Accountant Specialist is responsible for a variety of accounting functions, including regular and certified payroll, paying all payroll taxes, accounts payable, and on- and off-boarding employees, including benefits enrollment management. This position will report directly to the Managing Accountant and will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial records.

Primary Responsibilities:

Payroll:

Review, process, and submit weekly and bi-weekly payrolls both regular and certified, including calculating taxes and deductions, and providing back-up documentation

Accurately track employee PTO and sick pay

Maintain employee records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws

Prepare, file, and PAY payroll tax deposits weekly

Submit Prevailing Wage reports accurately on a weekly basis

Accounts Payable:

Process vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy and proper coding in our Accounting Software including submitting for Project Manager approval

Match invoices to purchase orders and receiving reports

Review, approve, prepare, and process vendor invoices and subcontractor bills

Maintain vendor files and resolve invoice discrepancies

Research and resolve invoice and billing disputes with vendors

Enter credit card receipts and manage coding

Monitor costs and budgets: Track spending and ensure that money is used wisely

Control inventory, purchasing, and disposal of supplies

Skills and Attributes:

Understanding of GAAP

Proficiency in accounting software - QuickBooks and, ideally, Viewpoint Spectrum

Strong knowledge of and capacity for understanding complex accounting, including cost controls, job costing, and profit and loss accounting

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Excellent organizational and time management skills

Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Reliable, responsible, and discrete

Excellent team player and willing to help wherever needed

Experience and Training:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience

Experience processing and submitting certified payroll

5+ years of experience in construction accounting (Roofing would be a plus)

Physical Requirements:

Ability to be stationary for long periods of time

Ability to commute to Lakewood, WA and work in our office in person five days per week

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
