Position Summary



The Accounting Specialist performs a variety of accounting and clerical duties to support the Controller and overall Accounting Department. This position assists with maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and ensuring compliance with company and tribal accounting standards. The Accounting Specialist plays a key role in daily financial operations and supports month-end and year-end reporting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities



Process accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) transactions accurately and timely.

Reconcile vendor statements and resolve billing or payment discrepancies.

Maintain organized and accurate accounting files, invoices, and supporting documentation.

Prepare and post journal entries and assist with general ledger reconciliations.

Support payroll processing and employee expense reimbursements as directed.

Assist with credit card reconciliations and ensure compliance with company credit card policy.

Operate and maintain digital check scanner systems for deposits and reconciliation.

Compile and prepare reports for month-end and year-end closing.

Maintain vendor and customer account information in accounting systems.

Respond to inquiries from internal departments and external vendors in a professional and timely manner.

Support audit preparation and maintain financial data confidentiality.

Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by leadership or the Board of Directors to ensure effective operations and alignment with organizational objectives.

Qualifications



Education and Experience:



Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred.

Two (2) or more years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, preferably in a multi-entity or tribal enterprise organization.

Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or similar ERP systems.

Experience using digital check scanners for deposit and reconciliation processes required.

Strong knowledge of basic accounting principles and general ledger functions.

Skills and Abilities:



Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.20 - $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
