Essex Bank, a growing, dynamic, community bank, is seeking a highly motivated individual to join its Accounting team!
Under the direction of the Accounting Supervisor, responsible for various daily and monthly general ledger reconciliations, monitor branch cash orders, track Bank investments, assist in preparation of assigned financial reports for management and perform a variety of functions.
Responsibilities include:
Reconcile assigned daily general ledger accounts and correspondent bank statements. Prepare daily correspondent bank worksheet and monitor interim daily balances.
Monitor branch cash orders for accuracy.
Maintain investment tracking including recording purchases, maturities, interest payments, and reconcile to general ledger.
Balance General Ledger transaction tickets daily.
Review weekly check order invoices and manually charge customers as needed. Provide invoices to supervisor for review and approval.
Prepare various month-end closing entries, including accrued escrow interest, lease accounting, and provision for loan losses. Reconcile various monthly general ledger accounts, internal checking accounts, and custodial loan participation statements. Responsible for researching and clearing outstanding items timely.
Prepare monthly teller difference, community investment program, and rebated customer fee reports. Assist in preparing other reports for management as assigned.
Crosstrain and provide back-up for Accounts Payable function.
Assist as needed with various other accounting duties. Special projects and other duties assigned.
Qualifications:
Associate's degree in Accounting and/or 1 -2 years relevant banking or accounting experience
Strong attention to detail, accuracy and organizational skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Proficiency with Windows-based software (Excel, Word, and Adobe PDF)
Willingness to learn accounting software and proficient calculator skills
