Job Description


The Accounting Intern will be responsible for the general accounting function including preparing journal entries, maintaining balance sheet schedules and ledgers and account and bank reconciliations. Assisting with monthly closings and account analysis and provide support, as needed, in carrying out the responsibilities of the accounting department.

The position would allow the candidate a unique opportunity to simultaneously witness the operations of a 78-year-old, Top-40 private company in South Carolina, while being engaged in operations of our brokerage team and business endeavors. Beyond the general duties outlined below, the responsibilities of the job and exposure of the role can grow as successive responsibilities are taken on by the prospective candidate.

The position would be compensated and will operate in The Beach Company\'s main office located at 320 Broad Street.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Maintain general ledgers for Beach Company related entities on a GAAP basis.

2. Record and process cash disbursements from related entities for operating expenses.

3. Process intercompany billings for The Beach Company and related entities for insurance, credit card charges, phone billings, etc.

4. Maintain accounts receivable reconciliations for various bill backs.

PrePrepare monthly bank reconciliations for The Beach Company and its related entities.

6. Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and monthly financial statements for Beach Company related entities.

7. Prepare Journal Entries.

8. Post month end Landlord Statements.

9. Process bank deposits for Beach Company and its related entities and record the Commercial management deposits as needed.

10. Completion of various duties/ad hoc projects as assigned or necessary, supporting The Beach Company reporting and for other Beach entities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

1. Completion of accounting classes and any prior experience in the accounting field

2. Knowledge of accounting principles and practices

3. Knowledge of financial reporting

4. Proficiency in MRI, Excel, and Word
