Duties
Manage general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliation, and ledger maintenance using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or PeopleSoft
Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other regulatory standards
Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and accounts receivable/payable processing to ensure accuracy and completeness
Assist with budgeting, financial forecasting, and cash flow analysis to support organizational planning
Support internal controls compliance, including SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) procedures and regulatory reporting requirements
Perform audits and assist with external auditors by providing necessary documentation and explanations
Oversee payroll processing, tax filings, and related compliance activities while ensuring timely payments and accurate records
Mentor junior team members in technical accounting practices, fostering professional growth within the department
Skills
Strong knowledge of financial concepts such as debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, and accrual accounting methods
Proficiency with accounting software including QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms
Experience with governmental accounting standards
Excellent analytical skills for financial report writing, interpretation of financial statements, and account analysis
Ability to perform bank reconciliations, account reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliation efficiently
Skilled in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, budgeting models, and financial forecasting
Knowledge of regulatory compliance standards such as GAAP and SOX for internal controls assurance
Strong communication skills for effective collaboration across teams and mentoring colleagues in technical accounting practices
