Accountant I

Position Purpose:

To assist with various functions of the accounting/finance department including accounts payable function for all areas of the Bank and provide accounting support related to Mortgage. Assist in the reconciliation of the Bank's general ledger accounts. Assist in the administration of expense reporting and payroll monitoring of the Bank.

Responsibilities of this position include (but not limited to):

Support the Controller in timely completion of reconciliations of the Bank's general ledger accounts. Match invoices to receiving documents and post into the accounts payable system. Assist in the accounts payable and vendor management function within the AP system. Assist with recording and processing the purchase and sale of Secondary Market mortgage loans. Monitor incoming wires from investors for purchase of loans and complete Purchase Advice in accordance with incoming wires Assist with the Bank's employee expense reporting by processing expense and travel reimbursement reports. Assist in the preparation of schedules necessary to complete monthly reporting, routine audits, and regulatory reports. Prepare daily and monthly journal entries as needed. Assist in the generation of month-end and quarter-end reports for various committees. Practice branch security procedures and protect customer confidentiality and privacy. May perform additional duties as necessary to keep the Bank operating efficiently and effectively.

Qualities of the successful candidate include:

Two-year degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business, or other related majors preferred. 2+ years' experience in Accounting, Banking, or closely related work experience. Strong problem solving, and communication skills Professional appearance and attitude is essential. Attention to detail in all areas of this position is essential. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be a self-disciplined person who can multi-task, and work under stress and pressure. Must be able to meet deadlines. Ability to calculate figures, learn and run various software programs. Must be proficient with Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and Word. Experience working with accounting software is preferred. Must be able to communicate effectively, get along with co-workers and deal with colleagues effectively and professionally. Must represent and promote a positive image of the Bank throughout the community through involvement and/or participation in community, civic, and charitable organizations and agencies. Must be trustworthy and maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Compensation for positions is based on the specific position and may be paid in the form of an hourly wage, overtime, a semi-monthly salary, commissions, or a combination of them. Depending on the specific position, some may be paid solely on commissions or others may include a bonus structure.
