We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and various accounting software platforms. This role offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic environment, supporting both corporate and non-profit financial operations. The successful applicant will demonstrate proficiency in GAAP, technical accounting, and financial analysis, contributing to accurate financial statement preparation and effective financial management.
Responsibilities
Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP and regulatory standards
Manage general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliation
Conduct accounts payable and receivable processing, ensuring timely payments and collections
Perform bank reconciliations and cash flow analysis to monitor financial health
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial report writing for internal and external stakeholders
Ensure compliance with SOX regulations and securities law requirements
Maintain accurate records using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms
Support regulatory reporting obligations and audit preparations through detailed documentation and data analysis
Collaborate with teams on corporate finance projects including private equity investments or governmental accounting initiatives
Mentor junior staff or interns in technical accounting practices and financial concepts such as double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, accrual accounting, and financial management principles
Experience
Proven experience in small business accounting, public accounting, or non-profit accounting environments
Strong knowledge of GAAP, SOX compliance, LIHTC regulations, and securities law is preferred
Hands-on experience with financial software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, or similar systems
Demonstrated ability in financial statement preparation, account reconciliation, audit support, and regulatory reporting
Familiarity with tax experience related to Wills, trusts & estate law is a plus
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial reports and concepts such as cash flow analysis and budgeting
Prior mentoring or leadership experience is advantageous for supporting team development
