Delta County School DistrictPOSITION TITLE: Accountant DIRECT SUPERVISOR: Director of Finance DEFINITION: The accountant is a key member of the financial team at Delta County School District. He or she will be relied upon for accurate and timely recording and reporting of District financial information in accordance with GAAP, Governmental Accounting Standards, and Colorado Financial Policies and Procedures. The accountant will identify system and process improvements, independently resolve problems, and perform other related duties as required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Perform financial record keeping functions related to District\'s financial operations. Journal entries
Bank reconciliations Cash receipts/revenue recognition Invoicing and billing
Record and review grant revenues and expenditures for compliance with local, state and federal grant awards. Assist with grant budgets and support
Grant reimbursement process Periodic reporting
Manage tasks within multiple governmental funds with various daily operations.
Assist in preparing for the annual financial statement audit and other required audits. Preparation of the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA) for the Single Audit
Compile schedules for the audit team Manage audit requests as needed Assist in the managing and updating accounting information systems (Infinite Visions) and other electronic systems.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Finance and Superintendent. Attend meetings as requested
Support the overall District office team, as needed (accounts payable, payroll, HR, curriculum, grants, transportation, facilities, etc) QUALIFICATIONS: We are looking for an articulate individual with strong communication skills and a positive attitude. This individual will also have technical accounting knowledge, experience with bookkeeping, and comfort with advanced spreadsheet (Excel and Google Sheets) functions EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Education: Bachelor degree in accounting or related field is required. CPA or other applicable accounting credentials preferred. Experience in Public Accounting (audit/consulting/Tax) preferred. Experience: Accounting experience, preferably in governmental/school district environments. Excel - Advanced knowledge. Ability to navigate electronic accounting applications.
