As an

Accountant

for Health & Human Services, you will partner with program administrators to manage budgets, track expenditures, and ensure compliance with both state and federal policies. You will review and approve payments, ensure costs are charged correctly, as well as monitor spend-downs, contract and grant reconciliation for compliance, and prepare quarterly projection statements. Also, you will provide program leaders budget reports to help them make effective decisions. Furthermore, you will be involved in the biennial budget building process.

You will need to have accounting experience in the public or non-profit sector and have the ability to analyze impact of laws and regulations changes, as well as mastery in interpreting frequently changing policies, grant requirements, state and federal statutes. You should have a history of learning new approaches and methodologies that can be applied to your work. Additionally, you must be able to comprehend financial systems to clearly communicate accounting concepts to non-financial leaders so they can make sound decisions. Most importantly, you will need to maintain focus and productivity amidst frequent time sensitive requests and changes.



To be considered for this position

, you must have:

A bachelor's degree in accounting or business A strong understanding of accounting principles and how to apply them One (1) years of professional accounting experience which includes working with budgets, cost accounting, grant management, fund tracking, Uniform Guidance, contract management, auditing, procurement, accounts payable and/or accounts receivable.

OR

An associate's degree in accounting or business A strong understanding of accounting principles and how to apply them Two (2) years of professional accounting experience which includes working with budgets, cost accounting, grant management, fund tracking, Uniform Guidance, contract management, auditing, procurement, accounts payable and/or accounts receivable.

OR

A combination of education, training, and professional accounting experience which demonstrates equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
