Description of Work Unit


Student Access Center


The Student Access Center at the CSU Health Network takes a proactive approach to ensure patient eligibility and form requirements are met prior to arriving for an appointment and that needs of the patient are discussed to determine what type of appointment is necessary and which provider the patient should be assigned. The Connect to Health Network department (C2HND) utilizes the triage process to determine if the patient needs to be seen immediately or can be given a scheduled appointment. C2HND answers a wide range of questions as they pertain to insurance and the waiver process, service costs and billing, release for immunizations records and receiving records. C2HND provides services between the hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday-Friday, providing attractive work schedules for staff.

Position Summary


The Access Center Specialist will serve as the first point of contact for patient access to the CSU Health Network. This role will discuss the concerns of the patient and appoint appropriately. This position will release confidential information following state and federal regulations and HIPAA guidelines; filter questions and take a proactive approach to ensuring the patients eligibility and forms requirements are met prior to arriving for their appointment. The position answers a wide range of questions as they pertain to medical insurance, medical insurance waiver process, billing, cost of service, release for medical records, and receiving records.



This position works full-time (40 hours per week) during the academic year (approximately 31 weeks), and does not work during CSU scheduled breaks (fall, winter, spring, and summer). This position may voluntarily work additional hours to cover shifts for employees who are absent or on leave, as requested by management, not to exceed 40 hours per week.



The full-time, 12-month (52 weeks) salary is $40,000 - $44,000. The salary is commensurate with experience, and qualifications. This full-time salary will be adjusted based upon working an academic year schedule of approximately 31 weeks.



This position reports directly to the Manager of the Student Access Center.
