Overview:
Touro University Worldwide (TUW) is seeking a motivated, bright and personable individual to join our student advisor team. TUW is an accredited nonprofit university, and a member of the Touro University System (TUS). TUW offers uniquely designed and delivered online programs. The Academic/Educational Advisor provides a high level of service, assisting new and matriculating students from initial enrollment activities and assistance in programs related to retention and persistence to graduation, which includes academic advising, retention, and at-risk students. Built upon TUW's Robust Learning Model, this position utilizes a high tech/high touch approach to understand the student's needs, determine how to assist the students to meet their educational goals, and recommend/assist the student in registration for the appropriate courses. The successful candidate must be results-oriented, student centric, and have strong communication and listening skills. This individual must also be a team player, as the position will be required to collaborate with colleagues, department heads and other TUW employees. This position is a direct report to the Director of Academic Advising. This position will be hired for either the Hawaii office, or Los Alamitos campus depending on candidate location.
Responsibilities:
Develop and update degree plans for students
Provides academic advising to students
Provide academic advising appointment times for students as needed
Evaluate transcripts for transfer credits and equivalent courses
Contact students via email, phone, chat and/or text, as applicable
Reviews university resources/materials to better assist students
Quick learner that can easily adapt to TUW's Robust Learning Model (RLM) and proprietary Integrated Campus System platform
Assists with retention and registration efforts
Other duties as assigned by Director of Academic Advising and/or Provost
Qualifications:
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree, Master's degree preferred from an accredited university or college
Knowledge within Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work and or Clinical Counseling is an added plus
At least three years of related experience
Results Oriented and Student-Centric
Strong Interpersonal Skills (Communication, Listening, etc.)
Team Player
Ability to collaborate with other departments and team members
Physical job location can be at either our Hawaii location, or Los Alamitos location. Depending on Candidate quaifications and location.
Proficient in Microsoft Office/365 and able to adapt to learning new technical platforms.
Maximum Salary: USD $50,000.00/Yr. Minimum Salary: USD $45,000.00/Yr.
