Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate 6th Grade Math Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mathematics and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment for students. This role involves teaching various mathematical concepts, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry, while also integrating technology into the classroom. The teacher will be responsible for developing engaging lesson plans and assessing student progress to ensure academic success.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
A Middle School/High School Math Teacher is required to perform the following duties:
Plan and implement a blended learning environment, providing direct and indirect instruction in the areas of Mathematics based on state standards
Create an inviting, innovative and engaging learning environment that develops student critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Prepare students for strong academic achievement and passing of all required assessments
Communicate regularly with parents
Continually assess student progress toward mastery of standards and keep students and parents well informed of student progress by collecting and tracking data, providing daily feedback, weekly assessments, and occasional parent/teacher conferences
Work with the Special Education teachers and administration to serve special needs students in the classroom
Attend all required staff meetings and attend designated school functions outside of school hours
Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom you are responsible
Accept and incorporate feedback and coaching from administrative staff
Perform necessary duties including but not limited to morning, lunch, dismissal, and after-school duties
Performs other duties, as deemed appropriate, by the principal
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A bachelor's degree or higher with at least 24 credit hours in content area
Valid
Indiana Teaching
License
for Grades 6-8 (Substitute licenses/Emergency Permits are not accepted)* At least two years of successful teaching in an urban environment
Strong knowledge of mathematical concepts including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus.
Experience working with students in an educational setting; classroom experience preferred.
Excellent communication skills to effectively convey complex concepts to students.
Familiarity with instructional design principles and curriculum development processes.
Ability to integrate technology into the classroom for enhanced learning experiences.
Strong organizational skills for lesson planning and classroom management.
Background in scientific research or laboratory experience is beneficial but not required. We are looking for an enthusiastic educator who can inspire students and foster a love for mathematics while supporting their overall academic journey.
