Job Description

Cottonwood Valley Charter School in Socorro, NM seeks a full-time 3rd grade elementary school teacher for the 2025-26 school year, to begin January 5, 2026. This role includes a $10,000 signing bonus for those who can start by this date, with installments paid out over four semesters of successful service.

CVCS is a 170-student K-8 program started by a group of local parents in 2001, who wanted a different educational opportunity for their children. We have a waitlist of over 200 students. The mission of CVCS is as follows: "Cottonwood Valley Charter School offers a rigorous academic program designed to meet the individual needs of each student while developing habits of success, civic responsibility, and global awareness. The school offers the community a parent-driven public school choice in which teachers, students, and parents are partners."

Our salaries are the highest in our region and we additionally offer a quarterly $250 bonus for good attendance and a $1,000 bonus each year our school earns a "spotlight" designation from NMPED (we've qualified for this each of the last three years). Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Participates in the IEP process by attending IEP meetings, collaborating with the IEP team members, preparing IEP paperwork, and delivering instruction to enable students to make IEP goal progress and documentation of that progress.
Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
Plans a program of student success that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students in their least restrictive environment.
Prepares for students assigned and demonstrates written evidence of preparation upon the request of the immediate supervisor.
Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior
Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals, and, in congruency with those goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units and
projects to communicate said objectives to students.
Employs a variety of instructional techniques, technology, and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
Strives to implement by instruction and action the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
Diagnoses the instructional needs of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists as required.
Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for educational assistants and/or volunteer(s).
Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
Attends staff meetings and serves on committees as appropriate to the individual school site or district.
Give support to parents by providing resources to further the health and education of their child.
Closely monitors student behaviors and reports daily to parents on student progress as needed.
Collaborates with all outside therapists (physical, occupational, psychologists, counselors) and government agencies that are involved in the student's life.
Completes all duties assigned (morning, lunch, bus)
Collects and turns in progress reports to SPED team as well as sends a copy to parents each grading period as required by law.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $57,165.00 - $84,369.00 per year
