Job Goal:
To protect the safety, security, and well-being of all individuals on campus by preventing and responding to incidents that could disrupt the educational environment. Additionally, to assist in a supervisory capacity by providing security and protection for students, staff, and school property, thereby supporting a safe and orderly learning environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of FEMA courses: IS-100, IS-200, and IS-700
Some knowledge of or training in security procedures and practices
CPR and First Aid certification
Excellent health and physical condition; ability to run if necessary
Ability to work a flexible schedule
Possess an Arizona Driver's License with a clean driving record
Ability to obtain a valid Fingerprint Clearance Card
Ability to obtain restraint training
Good human relations skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of, and adherence to, all applicable policies, regulations, and rules
Core Job Functions:
Patrol school buildings and grounds to prevent substance abuse, fighting, theft, vandalism, illegal entry/exit, and improperly parked vehicles
Learn and recognize individual students to assist with campus supervision and control
Make home visits or notifications with the principal, truancy officer, or designated staff as needed
Respond to issues at bus stops and on school buses
Assist staff in designated special education classrooms under the guidance of the principal or designee
Transport students home with school personnel when necessary (e.g., sick or stranded students)
Assist the principal in various situations, such as custody meetings or emergency interventions
Support campus visitation management and monitor visitor access
Conduct site inspections to identify and report safety concerns
Assist in developing and updating the site's Emergency Response Plan
Participate in and help conduct school lockdown and evacuation drills
Contact police or emergency services in accordance with the school's emergency action plan
Report unusual conditions or malfunctions in HVAC, plumbing, or electrical systems
Complete and submit daily incident reports to the supervisor
Direct and control vehicle traffic on school property when needed
Assist in training school crossing guards
Support staff with student conduct and behavior management
Present safety information to students, staff, and parents as needed
Obtain and maintain required safety training and certifications
Perform all duties in a safe, prudent, and professional manner
Carry out other related duties as assigned by site or district administration, including before or after school hours
