Provide students with academic and character development activities by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Must be physically able and willing to maintain constant supervision of students.
Be flexible and able to work well with all ages group and team members. Maintain effective and open communication.
Participate in all trainings/meetings provided. Become familiar with and implement department and program policies, procedures and values.
Participate in ALL activities with your students in all settings. Encourage and facilitate your student's participation by implementing appropriate strategies.
Instruct and tutor students with school progress and homework by assisting them with organization and study skills.
Completes weekly recordkeeping of each student's progress and activities; reports to Youth Service Site Coordinator.
Must plan additional creative programming and activities for students within the program.
Keep Site Coordinator informed of all situations that may occur with any of your students.
Observe student behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior management techniques.
Ride the CAO van or bus provided by CAO with students as a Bus Aide after program is complete to ensure safety of the student at least once a week.
Keep program supplies and equipment in good shape, including putting them away when finished with a project.
Set a positive example at all times.
Must participate in at least three (3) SES recruitment events during the school year.
Assist the Youth Services Site Coordinator with any other duty or request as related to the program.
Can not provide any personal service with children or their families within Youth Services Department programs while working for this department.
All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be at least 18 years of age at the start of employment. Also, must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND/ OR EXPERIENCE
High school diploma and prior experience working with children. At least one year college level work in subject area; teaching or tutoring experience preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret educational periodicals, professional journals and technical procedures. Ability to write reports and effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals and small groups. Ability to compose and critique subject area essays. High level grammatical skills for English Tutor.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to comprehend and apply principles from grades K-12. Examples include: knowledge of advanced calculus, modern algebra, geometry and trigonometry. Ability to work with concepts such as limits, rings, quadratic and differential equations, and proofs of theorems.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical, paragraph or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
