The purpose of this position is to operate heavy equipment in the maintenance and repair of right-of-way and infrastructure. Job duties consist of related equipment operation duties. Successful performance contributes to the provision of safe and well-maintained city right-of-way and related infrastructure. FLSA status is Non-Exempt.
This position can start at an entry-level position in the Wastewater Department but has licensing and growth requirements. Candidates who currently possess all CDL requirements would start at the higher level.

perates heavy equipment to maintain and repair sewer right-of-way; removes debris.

lears sewer with hydro-washer; uses attached root cutter to dislodge root blockages.

ses jackhammer to break up pavement.

MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR DUTIES (40%)

epairs and maintains right-of-way.

nspects sewer lines and diagnoses problems.

erforms construction and repair work on concrete areas around drains, manholes, and sidewalks.

ay shovel drying beds as needed.
EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE DUTIES (10%)

erforms minor technical maintenance to equipment and vehicles; adds fluids, tightens nuts and bolts, oils moving parts, etc.

eeps assigned trucks and equipment clean and supplied for use.

nsures tools and hoses are in good working order and cleaned after use.

uns safety inspection on trucks; notifies supervisor of any major problems.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

wo (2) years' of experience in the operation of a variety of heavy construction equipment and vehicles required (i.e. backhoe, bulldozer, and excavator).

ust be twenty-one (21) years of age or older.
M
ust possess a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with no restrictions and a Tanker Endorsement. (If no CDL or current CDL has restrictions or no Tanker Endorsement, must obtain within nine (9) months of employment.)

wo (2) years' of experience in municipal sewer, sanitation or streets systems with an emphasis in construction and maintenance of sewer and drainage systems preferred.
